Co-founders meet Green Party member of parliament, Sian Berry

2 Dec, 2025

Last week, George Hibberd and Todd Smith, both former airline pilots and Safe Landing co-founders, met with Sian Berry last week, a Green Party member of the UK parliament.

They discussed all things aviation and climate:

✅️ Giving workers voice in the future of our industry through Workers’ Assemblies.

✅️ How to fund innovation through fair mechanisms like a frequent flyer levy, fuel tax, increased air passenger duty on private jets and first class tickets.

✅️ Our response to Jet Zero.

✅️ The aviation worker union landscape.

✅️ Putting UK workers at the forefront of global low-carbon aviation innovation.

They discussed holding a Workers’ Assembly in Brighton for Gatwick Airport workers and a question that Sian Berry could ask in parliament with regards to Workers’ Assemblies.

Separately to this, George has joined the Green Party Transport Policy Working Group and the Trade Union group where he is advising on aviation policy.
