🛫 Heathrow Airport Expansion – Safe Landing Assembly

🗓️ 20th August 2026 🕖 19:00-20:00 (UK time, UTC+1)

🧑‍🔧 Hosted by Finlay Asher, aerospace engineer and think tank lead at Safe Landing

Heathrow, the largest airport in the UK, is planning to build a third runway.

If approved, the expansion could cost more than £70bn, take up to 15 years to complete, and require hundreds of homes to be demolished and a major motorway around London to be re-routed.

So, is this the right time to being expanding one of the largest long-haul international airports in the world?

What will the plans mean for our society, sustainability, environment, economy, jobs and employment for aviation workers?

As a global community of aviation workers, students and enthusiasts who care passionately both about the future of our industry and planet – what should our response to the UK Government’s consultation (closing on the 1st September 2026) be?

Watch this Safe Landing event, hosted by Finlay Asher (aerospace engineer and think tank lead at Safe Landing) to learn about our draft response to the consultation and understand our proposals.

Following the presentation, we held a workshop for aviation worker participants to discuss our proposals and improve them before submission.
