Safe Landing talk at University College Birmingham

22 Oct, 2024

Todd and Finlay attended University College Birmingham to give a talk to tourism management students as part of their sustainable tourism and sustainable aviation module.

Ahead of the talk, we met with Katie Bickley and Salil Colge who are involved with setting up a proposed ‘Centre for Aviation Management’ at UCB.

We then gave a 2h talk to tourism management students – covering our personal journeys from aviation workers into climate campaigning, the principles/positions of Safe Landing, our assessment of the challenges with the current aviation industry sustainability strategy, and what we think is required to get aviation onto a climate compatible flightpath. We had lots of good questions throughout and a detailed Q&A afterwards where we got into in-depth conversations with the students, who seem to have taken a lot away from the session:

Thanks to Simon Faulkner and Helen Joyner-Harris for inviting us to talk to their classes!

If you’re in academia/education, or a student yourself, and would like to arrange a Safe Landing talk at your institution – we do this regularly and are more than happy to consider any requests – please reach out to us on: info@safe-landing.org to discuss this!
