Finlay Asher – aerospace engineer, co-founder and think tank lead of Safe Landing – appeared on this RTE documentary broadcast on 16th and 23rd March 2026 about the story of Ryanair, now Europe’s largest airline: https://www.rte.ie/culture/2026/0313/1562025-turbulent-times-inside-the-new-ryanair-documentary
It’s impossible to tell the story of Ryanair, without featuring their out-spoken CEO Michael O’Leary who has masterminded the rampant growth of the airline – while also playing down the environmental impact of our industry.
As Finlay discusses in the documentary: we love flying, it’s a magical experience, and one that we want to safeguard for future generations.
Michael’s and Ryanair’s legacy will not just lie in their returns delivered to shareholders, or their peaks in air traffic growth, but also how they have contributed to the transition of aviation away from fossil fuels.
Michael is undeniably a talented communicator.
Having his mind focused on how we solve one of the biggest crises facing our generation would be very exciting in terms of what’s possible in aviation and we think that would be a great legacy for him to look back on.
We invite him to step-up to the plate, and we’ll always be here to chat if he’s keen to collaborate on this: info@safe-landing.org
