We bring together people from across the industry to advocate for a safe, sustainable future for air travel, grounded in science, responsibility, and community.
We are a small, committed “core crew” team working to shift the conversation around aviation’s environmental impact and support workers who want to be part of the solution.
The Role
We’re looking for a self‑employed, part‑time Project Manager to help coordinate our work and support our existing team of four. This is a remote role with flexible hours, ideal for someone who thrives in mission‑driven environments and enjoys working with autonomy.
A further focus of the role will be communications: ensuring our messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with our values. You’ll help keep projects moving, support internal coordination, and strengthen how we communicate with our community, partners, and the wider public.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee ongoing projects across the organisation.
- Support and manage a small team, ensuring clarity, alignment, and close collaboration.
- Facilitate regular team and one-to-one meetings, tracking progress and actions.
- Maintain project timelines, priorities, and workflows using software tools (e.g. Click-up)
Extra responsibilities
- Lead on communications planning and delivery (internal and external).
- Assist with finance activities (grant applications, budgeting, invoices, tracking expenses).
- Integrate within our flat hierarchy and ‘consent-based decision making’ model.
- Help develop and refine our processes as the organisation grows.
- Contribute to a positive, supportive, and purpose‑driven team culture.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Key attributes:
- Proven experience in project management, ideally in a non‑profit or small‑team setting.
- Enjoys planning, organising and structuring work, and facilitating others’ collaboration.
- Confident, practical experience using project manager tools (like ClickUp or similar) for project and task management.
- Able to work fairly independently (often remotely) and manage multiple priorities.
- A collaborative, people‑centred approach to teamwork and leadership.
- An openness to consent based decision making (training provided).
- Alignment with Safe Landing’s vision, mission, culture and values.
Nice-to-have attributes:
- Strong background in communications (campaigns, press, media, messaging).
- Prior experience/knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok), event management and email newsletter platforms (we use Action Network).
- Prior experience/knowledge of website and webpage development or management.
- Ideally some experience and knowledge of the aviation industry.
- An awareness of neurodiversity and making accommodations for neurodiversity within the team.
- An openness to personal inner growth and collective team emotional processes.
- Based in the UK (as we often meet for internal/external events in the UK) – we are open to applications from outside the UK but would need to be able to easily travel to the UK in a relatively low-carbon and low-cost way.
Contract & Hours
- Self‑employed contract (our organisation receives funding and then we invoice each month, rather than as employees)
- Part‑time, with flexible hours outside of key team meeting times.
- Fully remote, regular online meetings and occasional in-person meetings (mostly UK).
- Flat pay structure across the organisation.
Payment
- Part time, on the basis of £38,000 per year full-time equivalent (FTE):
- 3 days per week: £22,800 per year, £1,900 per month
- 2 days per week: £15,200 per year, £1,267 per month
- We’re open to 2 or 3 days per week and increasing in the future depending on funding.
Employment contract
- Type: self-employed contract. You will be responsible for your own HMRC self-assessment tax return. We can help guide you on this.
- Length: employment guaranteed until the end of April 2027 and will be extended based on future grant funding.
