📻 Finlay Asher of Safe Landing joined Newstalk Breakfast Radio – Ireland to discuss why aviation workers might support the proposals for a ‘frequent flying levy’: https://www.newstalk.com/news/frequent-flyers-jet-setter-tax-could-raise-billions-for-climate-change-fight-1775327
📉 The segment highlighted a recent study from the New Economics Foundation (NEF) and partners, which modelled the climate effects of a staggered tax on flights and found the proposal would reduce passenger numbers in 2028 by 26% and emissions by 21% vs. a ‘business-as-usual’ scenario.
🧳 They found that just over half (54%) the savings in a given year would come from the 5% of people who fly the most, while 72% of people would escape fees by flying either once only or not at all.

👨🏫 We’re running an expert talk on Thursday 14th November, at 12:00-13:00 UTC with Alex Chapman, senior economist at NEF, to hear more about the study and it’s proposal, which will also provide some opportunity to debate it’s merits, implementation and whether we should advocate for such measures as aviation workers.
