Aviation and Climate Change: Understanding the Science to Help Shape the Future ✈️🌍
On Saturday 28th February in London, we delivered the very first Safe Landing Climate Fresk workshop – and what a milestone it was. Using a powerful, evidence‑based tool built from climate science research, members of our community came together to unpack the drivers and mechanisms of climate change through an interactive, collaborative experience.
In just a few hours, we mapped the bigger picture of climate science and zoomed in on the unique reality and challenges for aviation. We also created space to acknowledge something many of us feel deeply: the tension between our love of flying and our concern about its climate impact.
We closed by exploring practical ways we can take action – individually and collectively – to become informed, credible voices for a genuinely sustainable future for aviation.
This first workshop showed the real value of gathering in a safe, supportive space to understand, reflect, and consider our role as we navigate this complex issue.

Why Climate Fresks?
As an organisation aiming to represent a “voice of aviation workers”, we understand the importance of growing our community – to connect and empower environmentally conscious aviation professionals, and to ignite our shared passion for sustainability across a broader section of the workforce. We do this through our social media platforms and online community “check-in” events, but also recognise the value of in-person events.
This is why we’re training as facilitators to deliver Climate Fresk workshops specifically designed for aviation workers – to reach colleagues who may be aware of aviation’s climate impact but haven’t yet found a positive way to engage with it, helping them to connect both intellectually and emotionally, and inspiring meaningful action and participation in the Safe Landing community.
