Visioning Assembly
Creating the future of aviation
A positive, worker-led vision
In September 2025 aviation workers from across the aviation industry came together in London to co-create a positive, worker-led vision for the future of sustainable aviation. Together with Mutual Gain, Safe Landing hosted ‘Creating the future of aviation: Visioning Assembly’ in the Friends House, Euston.

Popularising assemblies
One strand of Safe Landing‘s work is in advocating for national governments and trade unions to run Workers’ Assembles (a form of Citizens’ Assemblies purely for aviation workers) as a way of giving aviation workers a voice in how our industry transforms in the face of climate change. A crucial part of that journey is popularising assemblies from the grassroots upwards by running our own assemblies.
Application and selection
Over 80 aviation workers applied for the Visioning Assembly, and 26 were selected to represent the diversity of job roles, gender, ethnicity, age and views on climate change that we see in the aviation industry.
Group exercises
Participants were taken through a number of exercises to highlight where they felt their place was in creating change, where their power lies, who our industry is responsible for, our ambitions, our opportunities and our barriers. They took part in role plays, putting themselves in the shoes of different stakeholders in the industry to get a flavour of what each stakeholder’s positions are, their goals and their trade offs.
Creating the vision
Finally, they took part in an exercise creating a vision for the future of aviation covering five key aspects: social responsibility, financial, technical, political, and environmental. These visions were presented to the rest of the group, voted on and had feedback submitted. The votes and the feedback was taken onboard and a final edited vision is being voted on post-assembly.

Outputs
This positive, worker-led vision will be presented in a piece of artwork by Mair Perkins and will be exhibited at political party conferences, sustainability events and sent to politicians, trade unions and industry leaders. Watch this space for the artwork, dedicated webpage and report.
