UK Aviation Decarbonisation – Presentation to Westminster Forum

1 Jul, 2026

On 1st July 2026, Finlay Asher (aerospace engineer and Safe Landing think tank lead) gave a short presentation to the “Westminster Energy, Environment and Transport” (WEET) Forum on the topic of “Next steps for aviation decarbonisation in the UK”.

We dissected the key issues with the existing UK Jet Zero Strategy: focus on large airport expansion, “SAF” and slow, expensive and inefficient approaches.

We also presented our key proposals: environmental policies, zero emissions aircraft, contrail avoidance, and of course: Workers’ Assemblies.

The event was attended by a number of industry, government and Department for Transport representatives, so we hope they were listening!

We also got into a interesting exchange with the Director of Sustainability at Heathrow Airport during the Q&A.
