A session for aviation workers to discuss the feelings we carry when the work we love raises hard questions:
📅 Date: 29/07/26
🕐 Time: 19:00 UK
⏱ Duration: 90 minutes
📍 Format: Online
👥 Spaces: Limited to fewer than 10 participants
Event description
We invite you to join our online listening space for aviation professionals, hosted by Safe Landing. This is a simple, hospitable, empathetic space — open to anyone in our community where uncertainties or discomforts about climate change and ecological breakdown can be safely expressed.
The session is based around the concept of Climate Café listening circles, developed by dedicated professionals at the Climate Psychology Alliance.
This kind of exploration is important as it becomes more evident that climate and ecological breakdown are not far-away problems but a clear and present risk — both to our own safety and wellbeing, and to our long-term job security. People increasingly need to talk about what our changing world means for them: at personal, family, societal and professional level.
We need to imagine it in some detail so as to think about it constructively and clear-sightedly — and to explore some complex feelings and thoughts which may often be taboo and hard to talk about, particularly within work settings.
What to expect
· No guest speakers and no prepared talks
· An advice-free zone
· Facilitated discussion focused on your thoughts and feelings about climate change and ecological breakdown
· A safe, confidential space among peers who share your professional context
These events will be led by facilitators who have both been trained in this process by the Climate Psychology Alliance and have first-hand experience as aviation workers.
Why now?
If you’re based in the UK, you’ll be well aware we have already experienced record-breaking temperatures — leading many to believe summer had arrived whilst it was still spring, with all-time highs exceeded by over 2 degrees. For people whose livelihood involves burning fossil fuels, as is the case for aviation workers, this can lead to a conscious or unconscious sense of discomfort or anxiety.
Given that climate and ecological breakdown is too ‘big’ psychologically for any individual to hold alone, we hope you’ll join us for this community listening circle.
