🎬 As Cannes Film Festival comes to a conclusion, hundreds of private jets will carry celebrities away from the city and back home. Particularly in the midst of a fuel crisis, ex-pilots (including members of Safe Landing are urging the government to better regulate the “reckless excess” of private jets – at Cannes and elsewhere.
🛩️ Last year alone, an estimated 750 private jets flew to and from Cannes, burning through two million litres of fuel – with two thirds exempt from carbon pricing under current EU rules.
✈️ This is a question of whether aviation needs effective rules and carbon prices that apply to everyone – not just those flying commercial flights within Europe.
❓ Do you think Cannes Film Festival should ban private jets?
❔ Do you think governments should do more to regulate and tax private jet use?
